Yolk is excited to announce its fourth annual Literary Oktoberfest! Join us for a night inspired by the atmospheric outdoor beer gardens of Oktoberfest and designed to connect journals, writers, publishers, booksellers, and arts organizations in the city of Montreal. Throughout the evening there will be time to meet new writers, industry professionals, and discover what this city and country has to offer.

Tickets are 10$. This is an 18+ event.


Speakers:

Rémy Attig (Quebec Writers Federation) : Remy Attig, PhD, is the Executive Director of the Quebec Writers’ Federation. Previously a professor of sociolinguistics and translation, they have advocated for artists working in liminal spaces—namely of queer, translanguaging, and/or linguistic minority contexts— from inside academia. Now, Remy turns this enthusiasm into tangible support for writers here at home.

Gabrielle Drolet (Author, Look Ma, No Hands) : Gabrielle Drolet is Montreal-based writer and cartoonist whose work has appeared in the New York Times, the New Yorker, the Globe & Mail, the Walrus, and more. Her memoir, Look Ma, No Hands, was a 2026 Lambda finalist. Her first novel is forthcoming in 2028.

Klara du Plessis (Poet and critic, Ek’t Act) : Klara du Plessis is known for her contributions to long-form and translingual poetics. She is the author of six books of poetry and literary criticism, of which her debut won the 2019 Pat Lowther Memorial Award. Ek’t Act was published in South Africa and is currently shortlisted for the prestigious Breyten Breytenbach Prize for Poetry.
